Thematic Dialogues

Duration: 3 hours

Number of participants: 8 - 20

Can be delivered in-person or online

Whether you are a community, team or organisation, a thematic dialogue creates much needed space that allows participants to feel seen, heard and appreciated, and develop deeper understanding and shared meaning around a common theme that matters to them. It results in greater sense of connection, increased empathy, and the potential to harness diverse perspectives that can generate fresh thinking.

A Thematic Dialogue workshop includes:

  • An introduction to the process and participant check-in

  • A short guided mindfulness practice

  • Simple individual and small group framing exercises

  • The dialogue itself can be 45 - 90 minutes

  • A check-out to share reflections and learning

The first half of the session is designed to allow people to deepen their thinking, practice listening skills and feel present. The dialogue itself is practised in a circle: creating an inclusive and non-hierarchical space. The process requires deep listening that allows for inquiry into what is important to individuals and the group.

Listening Skills Learning Journey

Duration: 4 × 2 hour sessions

Number of participants: 8 - 12

Can be delivered in-person or online

Listening is a foundational value, skill and practice. We all possess the capacity to listen but that capacity remains largely untapped as few of us have learned to truly cultivate it. Research suggests that a scarce two percent of people are effectively skilled in active listening despite the fact that listening is as essential as speaking. Not only does it allow us to detect areas where our knowledge is incomplete, and to surface important questions for co-enquiry, but also to strengthen trust and healthy relationships.

This four-part listening skills learning journey covers:

  • Listening to self - wholebody listening, cultivating curiosity and receptivity

  • Listening to others - listening through lenses, nonviolent communication

  • Listening to the group - listening to diverse views, power paradigms

  • Group dialogue - putting the skills into practice

“Great combination of online group discussions, breakout rooms and Jessica's presentation. This varied levels of involvement made for a very engaging learning experience. Everything was clear and precisely delivered without succumbing to information overload.” - participant feedback

Courageous Conversations

Duration: flexible, from 2 hours to a bespoke programme

Number of participants: 8 - 25

Can be delivered in-person or online

In the year 2024 alone, 44 percent of workers have quit their job due to a toxic culture, and four in five British professionals believe fostering a supportive workplace culture should be included in an organisation’s purpose.

What is workplace culture? Whilst hard to define, culture can be seen as a living system of values, norms, practices and behaviours shared across an organisation that influences how its members interact and the way information is shared - how they communicate, relate and think together.

Acknowledging the importance of human interpersonal capabilities and nurturing them is an essential part of fostering healthy cultures. Facilitated communication approaches offers a range of practices that allow us to ask the difficult and meaningful questions, develop skills to navigate conflict, build trusted relationships and, overtime, create the shifts in communication and relating that lead to long-lasting and transformative change.

Our work with Courageous Conversations draws on a range of facilitated communication approaches including:

  • Bohm Dialogue

  • Deep Democracy

  • Nonviolent Communication

  • LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®
