Vision
A just and equitable future for humans and more-than-humans to thrive and flourish together. Resilient and connected communities live in harmony, respect difference and have the ability to harness collective and creative intelligence and potential for the health and wellbeing of themselves and future generations to come.
Mission
To support individuals, communities and organisations to cultivate the communication, thinking and relating skills needed to shift mindsets, strengthen shared values, and transform thinking, choices and actions in support of thriving and healthy life for humans and more-than-humans.
Values
Creativity
Everyone is inherently creative, and we are part of a creative, living system. Creativity is not just about creating beautiful art, music or dance, it is vital to how we experience and make sense of the world. Cultivating our creativity supports creative thinking and wellbeing in how we inquire and understand, learn and innovate, and express and relate.
Holism
Everything exists within the whole, therefore, nothing or no one can be excluded from life, and all experiences and perspectives are valued in search of collective wisdom and deeper understanding. The whole contains the creative tension of polarities that when worked with creatively maintain dynamic balance and allow for new thinking and shared meaning to emerge.
Reciprocity
Within a living system there is constant exchange and ‘relational responsibility.’ As humans, once we become aware of the interconnectedness, interrelatedness and interdependence of all life we can extend our sense of responsibility beyond ourselves, whilst also acknowledging and fulfilling our own needs in support of reciprocal, thriving life.
Continuous Learning
Learning and knowledge is more than cognitive abilities and formal education. It includes embodied, relational and experiential knowledge. Supported by curiosity, humility and systems thinking, continuous learning allows us to better navigate change and uncertainty, expand knowledge systems and value everyone’s experience and contribution.
Who We Are
JESSICA BALL
Founder and facilitator
Jessica is a highly experienced facilitator with over a decade of expertise in Bohm Dialogue, a communication approach she has passionately practiced and developed throughout her career in facilitation and knowledge management. She discovered Bohm Dialogue by chance during her time researching a theory of ‘emotional sustainability’ as an agent of change, and in the time since has personally experienced and witnessed its powerfully transformative effects.
The principles of a dialogue practice provide a grounding in all aspects of her work, that support her to design and facilitate workshops and programmes that address complex systemic challenges across various sectors. Her facilitation approach is underpinned by 20 years of experience in the international development and charity sector, helping teams and organisations develop strategy, improve collaboration and bring together diverse stakeholders for learning and generative thinking.
Her work is further enriched by her background in art and design, supporting her aim to create meaningful and creative dialogue experiences that drive positive change in how people think, communicate, and relate to themselves, each other and the world.
Whilst she has been working as Creating Meaning since 2015, she made the decision to become a Community Interest Company (CIC) in 2026, to reflect her commitment to bringing the practice and process of Bohm Dialogue, and other transformative facilitated communication methods to more people, in service of individual, societal and organisational wellbeing and meaningful change.
What people say about working with Creating Meaning
“I had the pleasure to work with Jessica as the lead facilitator on a Science for Nature and People Partnership (SNAPP) project for which I am the PI. She did an excellent job facilitating two major workshops for us, one online and one in person. Her preparation and attention to detail were first rate. We had a large and diverse group of participants and some difficult and sensitive topics to work through. She demonstrated her ability to design and deliver effective processes to help us to achieve highly successful meetings.”
— Chris Sandbrook, Professor of Conservation and Society, University of Cambridge“ Jessica is a hugely experienced facilitator with many methods and practices under her belt, and can co-design and deliver a completely bespoke event or process to suit an organisation's purpose. However, the values that made her stand out for us in our year long collaboration over many types of interactions, are her creativity and her passion to base conversations and activities on social justice and the fact that we are all human. If you'd like to be in safe, kind and creative hands, look no further!
- Myrto Williams, Operations and Strategy Lead, Eating Better Alliance“Jessica has supported us to design a series of Dialogue sessions delivered to colleagues in London. We wanted to introduce the practice to those already involved in DEI networks/initiatives at the firm as a way to bring a deeper sense of connection and conversation to our work in this space. This is no easy task in a corporate environment, but Jessica's deep knowledge of Bohm practice and excellent facilitation skills enabled us to create meaningful and thought provoking sessions which were positively received by participants.”
