Courageous Conversations
It is widely agreed by facilitators that there is no such thing as a ‘safe space.’ This is because each person’s idea of what safety means will vary depending on their past experiences, self-management abilities and any existing group dynamics. An experienced facilitator can support the safety of the group, guiding them to create shared values and principles of working together, whilst creating the conditions that will allow for the necessary ‘stretch’ out of comfort zones, and gentle disruption habitual ways of thinking. How we communicate and relate to one another can hinder or transform our pathways to achieving our goals. Through powerful methods and approaches, facilitation supports groups to have the courageous conversations needed to generate new thinking; thinking that can lead to innovative ideas and build greater trust, confidence and clarity.
